A Productive Day..

Aloha!

Yeah! It kind of was, because now I seem fully recovered from the exams shock and I didn't slept much like I did in past few days, and also in the meantime.. seems fully prepared for the result shock I'll soon be awarded with. Call it cause and effect, and what would the effect be is left for days to come.

Last night I worked till 3 A.M. and so was supposed to get up by 10 in the morning which I did. I received news about relatives visiting our place the moment I woke up, and then I questioned about the day's productivity? Will I be able to complete what all I've thought for today or the time will pass fly by with the annoying kids (if any do come with the relatives).

Today was Mother's day and like a good son I wished her the time I got up. I remember every exam time, be it the first semester exams or the semester exams I just gave when I used to wake her up around 2 A.M. - 3 A.M, time and she used to make coffees for me, snacks that'd keep me alive for the whole night so that I could study. And with her blessings everything has been fine till now, and I'm sure so will be the future. I love you Mom! Today's blog certainly needed this piece of writing. The title should be "Mothers Day" instead of "A Productive Day" :p

I read some really nice articles today. One of them focused on the dance bar girls in Mumbai and it was written by Vir Sanghvi I guess. No one had this idea in mind that these dance bars would one day become the focus of a major controversy in India's most cosmopolitan city. At first it seemed like any other campaign by the 'Shiv-Sena' people like the generally do on valentine days, closing bars early, but soon, the same became a political issue and ministers there now support this movement. Is it right to target the dance bar girls first? Or the first on list should be the pimps, and the underground people who bring them up to this city, and who run this business. Anyway!

The other article dealt with Lt. Gen. Jagjit Singh Aurora. We people in India have the tendency of praising, rewarding people after they're gone, we overdid it in Major Aurora's case. Some argue, was he a real hero in the war? Reading the story it really seemed he was! And the lines below, an excerpt from the same seem so true:

"In our case, when recognition comes it's not just unforgivenably late but unmistakenably manipulated. Consequently, it's seen as an political tactic rather than a nation's gratitude."
And then the Ambanis, another hot issue! The bible says:

"Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. And every city and house divided against itself shall not stand."

The rest is left for you and the Ambanis to derive to a conclusion.

The last article I have in my memories was about "Being a Muslim Woman in India". Once was a time they were imprisoned within the walls of the so called tradition and custom. But their voices against the Muslim Law Personal Board have led to the deep cracks appearing in these walls, and soon will the day arrive when these walls will fall. "Times are changing, society is changing, and so are the Muslim women", as quoted by Javed Akhtar.

And then I read "The Godfather" by Mario Puzo for the rest of the day, somehow completed the Book I and reached to the part where the battle of five families is just to begin.

I recieved a call from a friend today, and he informed me about his unavailability at Training and Placement office for the work. That meant I'll have to take care of things from tomorrow under the teachers in TnP cell. So, the vacations aren't just fun, its still work around. I have plans for visiting Mumbai and Shirdi in the coming days; I hope work allows the same. And yea! I’m sad about the fact that I can't be there for Joe Satriani's show in Mumbai :(

Enough crap! That was how my day went - reading, reading and reading.

C ya then!

Harpreet.
